The Juvenile Striders had one of their best days ever, at Leinster level, with twelve athletes in action and all twelve returning home with a provincial medal. The U12 boys team of Myles & Cosmo Hewlett, Eoin Shannon and Caolan Costello competed really strongly all day long in the High Jump, Shot Putt, 600M, Long Jump to give themselves a real shot at a medal in the final event, the 4X100m Relay. The U13 team of James Quinn, Aidan Shannon, Sean Barry and Oisin McEochaigh were in a similar position facing into their Relay, knowing that they needed to get the baton around in double quick time to secure a medal. Our final team, the boys U15’s Aaron Browne, Conor Murphy, Cian Flanagan and Patrick Doyle were in a slightly stronger position, as they were leading their age group, with the final Relay event to go.
All three teams performed really well in their Relay’s, knowing that they couldn’t afford any bad baton change overs. After a long days competition against Leinsters finest clubs, the Striders won two Silvers and a Bronze, a club record at this event.
