A fantastic day for the Striders ended with medals for both the Ladies and Mens teams, in true cross country conditions at Adamstown. After a great showing by our Juveniles, the Striders Ladies team were led home by Sonya Byrne, finishing comfortably inside the top ten. Backed up by Beth O’Connor, Sinead McCarthy and Aine Cullen, the team won a well deserved county bronze medal.
The Mens team had a great turn-out, with eight Striders competing. John McGrath won an individual silver, with a really strong performance over a tough 8Km course. Competing for the first time at this level, Alan O’Connor had a great run to finish sixth. With four to score, Pat O’Callaghan found energy to sprint to a twelfth place finish and likewise Matt Flannelly had to push it all the way to the finish line to secure another great finishing position. Davy Byrne, John Kent, Colm Stafford and Emmett Malone completed a strong Striders squad, who earned a super team silver, behind SBR.
Well done to all the Senior Striders who competed, with great success, at Adamstown yesterday.
