A dozen Striders travelled to Enniscorthy today to support Slaney Olympic’s annual 10K. The strong winds courtesy of Storm Dennis made for tough conditions, but that didn’t prevent some fine performances throughout the field from our athletes. First Strider home was Paul Doran who battled hard to finish 3rd in 34:29. Brendan Lyng finished 5th, 25 seconds behind Paul. Nicola Murphy was 7th woman in a very competitive field in just over 43 minutes. David Kehoe had another successful day, winning the Over 50 category. A big well done to Slaney on another successful 10K, an event that goes from strength to strength every year.

Leinster schools xcountry championships in santry on Wednesday saw five of our juvenile athletes competing. First up was Lucca in the Minor boys. Lucca qualified well out of South Leinster schools xcountry in Carlow to race in this competitive race. He finished well, mid field and should be very proud of himself. He ran for his school, CBS Newross. Next up was Sean and Eoin and Will in the Junior boys. All ran very well. Will and Eoin in top 15 and qualified for the national schools xcountry in March. Myles ran in the Intermediate boys , a tough 4.5km race, and also qualified for the national xcountry championships in march, finishing in top 15.
We are very proud of you boys and we missed Darragh, Aidan,Ben and Robert who were sitting their mocks and could not race.
Normal weekend Juvenile training sessions resume, this weekend, after a mini break. At St Mary's Sports Hall, Friday 14th at 6:45pm (over 10's) and Saturday 15th at 11am (age 7-12). Looking forward to seeing all the regulars and newbies more than welcome.
