Congratulations to all the Striders who participated, in horrendous conditions, at the county relay championships today. The younger age groups are always very competitive and our BU10 team of Fionn McEochaidh, Gearoid Byrne, Donagh Grennan and Jake Sutton got the day off to a great start, taking second place. In the next age group, we had two teams, and all eight boys performed really well. Eanna Grennan, Sean O’Brien, Jack Murphy, Ronan Shannon, Charlie Alfred, Olan Delaney, Eoin Hannan and Sam Myers made up the teams that finished very impressive first and fourth places. The boys rounded off the day with two wins in the older age groups, with Myles Hewlett, Ben Myers, Cosmo Hewlett and Eoin Shannon following up their Leinster win, last week, with a county title. The BU16 team of Adam O’Connor, Oisin McEochaidh, Owen Lennon and Darragh Flannelly were equally impressive, notching up a wide margin win.
The GU14 team, Aisling Ryan, Hazel Hickey, Isobel Bawden and Millie Sutton gave it all, to finish just outside the medals, in the most competitive race of the day. The GU16 Striders team, Clodagh Foran, Eve Byrne, Louise Doyle and Erinn Shannon, won the final race, to round off another great day.
