On Thursday evening, thanks to great help from the parents of the juvenile athletes, USAC hosted the annual four club track & field event, at the New Ross town park track. Open to juvenile athletes from Waterford AC, St Joseph’s AC, St Senan’s AC and USAC, the clubs compete in various running, walking, jumping and throwing events, hoping to win the Murco Catering Equipment trophy. On a perfect evening for athletics, the Striders had big participation in all age groups and with everybody competing to a high standard, we finally won this event for the first time. It’s a very special time for athletics in New Ross, with the Striders now holding a number of “best club” trophies. Well done and thanks to the other clubs who participated and made it a great evening. Well done to all clubs – under age athletics is alive and well in the south east.
