A great day at the National Track & Field Championships in Tullamore today. A couple of medals won for USAC. Myles Hewlett won Silver in the 800m BU14, with a thrilling performance. For the third year in succession, there was Gold for Joshua Hewlett in the BU18 Javelin – a phenomenal achievement at this level of competition. Cosmo Hewlett placed 5th in the BU14 javelin in a very hot competition with the top three competitors all breaking the championship record! Darragh Flannelly ran a superb time of 2.09 in the BU15 800m, to take 4th place, with a well executed tactical performance. Isabel Bawden came a fantastic 3rd in the GU14 2km Walk. Eve Byrne, also competing in the race walking event, came an equally brilliant fourth place in the GU16 age group. Well done to both girls . All that hard work has paid off handsomely. Congratulations also to Aaron Browne who finished sixth in the BU17 400m in a time of 54.04 seconds. Also competing was Patrick Doyle in the very technical BU17 Triple Jump event. Patrick finished ninth, jumping a very respectable 10.46 meters, rounding off a very impressive first season at this event. All races are available on video, in Athletics Ireland Facebook site.
