There has been a real buzz around the club, ever since the talented John McGrath was selected, a month or so ago, to compete for Ireland. Last weekend, competing in the British & Irish Masters Cross Country Championships, held in Swansea, John performed to his usual very high standards and helped Ireland to a second place finish. Ireland finished just behind England and ahead of top quality Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales teams. This was John’s first international race, so needless to say we were very proud and excited to see him run in the Irish colours. It’s hard to think that John only took up running, relatively recently. He’s certainly a real inspiration to all Striders.
