Cancelled – 2020 USAC 5 Mile Stride

Hi all. We made the very difficult decision last night to cancel this year’s USAC 5 Mile Stride. The decision was made based on both public health concerns and for financial reasons.
The recent extension of the Covid-19 Phase 3 regulations covers the weekend of the Stride, limiting the event to 200 people. The 200 includes race entrants, stewards, civil defense, spectators etc.
In the absence of sponsorship, (we did not feel it appropriate to ask for sponsorship given the hardship many local businesses are having to endure), the event became financially unviable.
Concerns were also raised about people congregating in large numbers given the recent upturn in Covid-19 cases.
So with a heavy heart the decision was made to cancel this year’s event and to start planning for 2021. Thank you to all of our volunteers who have put in considerable work behind the scenes, especially Catherine and Aine and all of the committee.
Thanks too to those of you who signed up, you will receive an email from Pop Up Races detailing the refund of your race registration fee. Stay safe everyone.
