Leinster Juvenile Track & Field Championship Day 1, Tullamore, 11-Jun-2016

4The younger Striders were in action at Tullamore competing in both individual and pairs events. Sam Myers and Ronan Shannon were excellent in their 500m pairs event, coming fourth out of over twenty teams. Ruby Murphy and Isabel Bawden excelled in their events, in particular showing great technique over hurdles. Ciara Murphy earned another top ten finish in her Shot Putt event, as did Leona Berry in her High Jump. Eoin Shannon made the final six of the Turbo Javelin, where Cosmo Hewlett also performed really well. Our one medal in the field events came via James Quinn in the High Jump, who won a Bronze for the second year running.

On the track Myles Hewlett also won Bronze in his 600m event. Cruising through his heat, Myles worked hard for his medal in a really fast final. Finn Kelly, Eoin Shannon and Cosmo Hewlett also did really well in their 600m heats. Also over 600m Aidan Shannon, Darragh Flannelly and Owen Lennon were in good form, with Aidan and Darragh making another provincial final and Owen not far away. Leona did really good in her middle distance event and finally Caolan Costello was our sprint star of the day, making the final of the 80m event.
