It was an historic day for the Striders as we fielded three club teams and won
the full gambit of medals – in the individual, club, county and province events. The Striders U13 boys team of Aidan Shannon, Myles Hewlett, Eoin Shannon, Darragh Flannelly, Owen Lennon and Oisin MacEochaigh made history by becoming the first Striders juvenile team to win a national cross country medal in over thirty years. In a great race for our club, Aidan and Myles won individual medals, finishing 4th and 11th respectively. With four scoring in the club event, the boys finished second behind Westport AC. They also helped the Wexford team finish second in the county event, behind Clare. Finally, in the provincial event, Aidan led home the Leinster team, that included Myles, to another second place.
The U15 boys team of Aaron Browne, Cian Flanagan, Adam O’Connor and Ryan Kielthy finished a very commendable 13th place in the club competition. Aaron was also first Wexford athlete over the line, leading the county to 11th place. The U17 girls team of Grace Costello, Alannah Byrne, Rebecca Bawden and Grainne Flannelly were fantastic in finishing 8th best cross country club in Ireland.
Well done to all our athletes on performing so well at the highest level.
