Well done to the Juvenile Striders who competed over the last two weekends at the National Indoor Championships. We had lots of representation in the 800m events, with Darragh Flannelly, Adam O’Connor, Aaron Browne and Elaina Browne all making their respective finals and performing really well. Although there were no medals this time, there were lots of PB’s and the coaches couldn’t have been happier to have such USAC representation in the middle distance events.
Congratulations to Aoife Muldoon on a splendid 5th placing, in the Triple Jump. She was first out for Striders and got us all on the right track for the day . Great performance from Aoife at national level.
A week earlier, Ciara Kelly continued her great form in the High Jump and finished just outside the medal positions. Similarly Eve Byrne continues to lead the way for the Striders when it comes to race walking and Eve recorded a fantastic PB to finish in 5th place in Ireland. Also in action were our 4 x 200m boys relay team of Patrick Doyle, Aaron Browne, Dawid and Cian Flanagan. The boys had an amazing day, recording the 4th fastest time in the event and placing 5th in their final.
Outdoors there was Gold in the mens 700g Javelin at the National Spring Throws event for Joshua Hewlett. With a PB of 49.64m, this was a great start to the season for Joshua and after so many near misses in the indoor competition, it was great to come away from these events with a medal for the club.
Well done to all for competing so well at the highest level.
