National Juvenile Cross Country Championships, Uneven Ages, Navan, 15-Dec-2018

Another national club team title, for our U15 boys, was the highlight of last weekends national cross country championships, held at Navan. Having won the U14 national event last year, the USAC boys put in a great effort to retain their title. Ben Wall and Myles Hewlett led home the team, in 7th and 8th place respectively, to also win individual medals, over the tough 3,500m course. With the first four Striders to score in the club team event, the Shannon brothers, Aidan and Eoin, secured gold with excellent performances. In the same race, Ben Wall, Darragh Flannelly and Owen Lennon, returning after a recent injury, all played strong supporting roles, to complete our national winning squad. Well done to our latest Striders legends.

The day started with Strider Heather Costello representing the Wexford team in the GU11 event. As usual Heather put in a great effort and helped the Wexford team to an 8th place finish. Adam O’Connor rounded off his excellent cross country season with another fine placing in the BU17 event. The day ended with a fantastic performance from Aedan Rogers, who was right in the hunt for an individual medal, until a mid race fall halted his progress. Aedan finished strongly to claim a top 30 finish, scoring for the Leinster team and he will go into the indoor season with a lot of confidence.
