On the day that the USAC senior men took centre stage, the Striders juveniles also produced some great performances including medal winning individual and team efforts. Over 500m, Aoife Wall and TJ Murphy got us off to medal winning starts, in the U9 races. Sarah Lillis and Isabella O’Connor did us proud over 1.5km as did the Silver medal winning U11 boys team Cormac Delaney, Maitiu Wall and Gearoid Byrne. At U13’s, Ava Kehoe was our sole representative in the girls event and did really well over a very tough 2.5km course. Ronan Shannon won our first individual Gold of the day, and with Olan Delaney
and Sam Myers, also collected a team Gold. Aoife Lyng led home the GU15’s team, that also included Isabel Bawden, Ava Lacey and Hazel Hickey, to a fourth place finish in the team event. The Striders BU15 teams had a very successful outing winning Gold and Silver team medals. Led home by reigning Leinster champion, Myles Hewlett in first, the medal winning teams were made up of, Eoin Shannon, Sean Lennon, Finn Kelly, Will Park, Aidan Kehoe, Luca O’Connor and Ben Myers. Erinn Shannon completed a great day for her family, running second to Irish international Claragh Keane, over 4km, in the GU17 event. The BU17’s completed the juvenile events on a real high, with Ben Wall, Robert Wall and Adam O’Connor finishing first, second and fourth respectively.
Well done to all the juveniles who competed over the last two weekends, in the county events. These guys will march on to provincial cross country events over the next few weeks, representing both the Striders and County Wexford.
