The Fastest 5K in the South East
The South East Greenway 5K is known as one of the fastest courses in Ireland — a flat, smooth, point-to-point route with no cars, no corners, and nothing to slow you down. Held entirely on the scenic Greenway, it’s widely regarded as a PB course by runners of all levels.

The current course records—14:39 for men (David McCarthy, 2023) and 16:06 for women (Ciara Wilson, 2023)—speak for themselves, with sub-15-minute times regularly achieved.

Gentle Descent
The South East Greenway 5K features a gentle, continuous descent from 40m to 7m, making it one of the fastest 5K courses in the country. With no corners or traffic, it’s the perfect setting for chasing a personal best.

Finisher Medals and Podium Prizes
Our custom-made medals and trophies are back for 2025, building on last year’s hugely popular design with a fresh new twist. Every finisher receives a striking 70mm printed steel medal, while podium winners in both male and female categories take home a premium printed steel trophy with a marble base.

Unfortunately, we operate a no refunds policy. However, you can transfer your entry to another participant once the transfer window opens. See details below.

Yes. Entry transfers will be allowed during the transfer window:
Opens: Midnight, Monday July 21st
Closes: Sunday August 3rd at 23:59
To transfer your entry:
Log into Eventmaster.ie using the email used at registration and go to My Tickets
Select View Order
Click Ticket Transfer
Enter the First Name, Last Name, and Email of the person you're transferring to.
Click Start Transfer. The new participant will receive an email to accept and complete the transfer (including any fees).
If they haven’t accepted yet, you can cancel and re-initiate the transfer. Once accepted, you will no longer be able to change it.
Important:
United Striders AC is not responsible for any entry changes or financial transactions between individuals.
All transfer arrangements are strictly between the original and new entrants.
The transfer isn’t complete until the other person accepts the transfer, enters their details and claims the order. If the recipient does not do this before the window closes on the 3rd of August, the ticket will not transfer.
Tickets can only be transferred once.

No. Entries are only valid for the current year’s event.

All finishers receive a custom-made medal.
Trophies:
Top 3 male and female finishers receive a custom made trophy
Winning team (4 to score, based upon finish position) will be awarded the Seamus Burke Memorial Trophy. Team members must be members of the same Athletics Ireland-affiliated club.
Cash Prizes:
1st male & female: €200 each
2nd male & female: €150 each
3rd male & female: €100 each
Course Record (male/female): €200 each
Age category winners: €30 each
Age Categories (Male & Female):
1st Junior (U18), 1st O35, 1st O40, 1st O45, 1st O50, 1st O55, 1st O60, 1st O65

Yes, a limited number remain. Criteria:
Men: Sub 15:30 (5K)
Women: Sub 17:30 (5K)
Results must be from the last 2 years.

No. All race numbers must be collected in person at Race HQ.

Start line: Glenmore end of the Greenway, approx. 6km from Race HQ
Finish line: Near Race HQ

Main parking is 200m from Race HQ at New Ross Mart. Follow stewards' instructions.
Limited parking is available at the start line in Glenmore – carpooling strongly advised.
Please respect local residents and obey all traffic cones and marshals.

Yes. A free shuttle bus will operate from the Boat Club to Glenmore (Y34 PW20).
Buses will begin running at 6:20pm
Last bus departs at 7:00pm sharp
First come, first served — board early to avoid delays
Drop-off is approx. 700m from the start line
No belongings may be left on the bus
Allow at least 45 minutes for travel and warm-up

If you miss the final bus, please either jog to the start along the Greenway or drive and park (if space is available) near Glenmore.

Yes, there is parking approximately 700m from the start line, but space is very limited. Carpooling is essential if parking here.

Yes, a small gear drop is available at the start.
Leave only tops or light clothing (no bags, valuables, or food)

Participants must be 16 years or older on race day.

You’ll receive your custom medal at the finish line.

No. Medals are only for those who complete the race.

Yes. Starting bays ensure a smooth and safe start:
Sub 17 minutes
17–20 minutes
21–25 minutes
26–30 minutes
30+ minutes (including walkers)
Please move to your bay 15 minutes before race start.
Chip timing is in use — your time starts when you cross the line.
Important: Stick to your appropriate bay to help prevent trips or collisions. -
No. The Greenway remains open.
Please keep left, pass on the right, and stay alert for other users and cyclists. -
Water is provided at the finish line only.
Please carry your own water if you think you’ll need it during the race. -
